STACK UK National Championships

STACK UK National Championships

The STACK UK National Championships will be held this weekend at Dunstable Downs (31/5 - 1/6/14). The IRB competition, including Individual, Pairs and Team disciplines will commence on Saturday. The pilots meeting for competitors will be at 9:30 am.

A highlight will be that this year we have a new pair, Flying Fish, competing for the first time in a few years.

This year we are using mix format - three figures and a ballet - so if you were considering competing its a great time to have a go, especially in Individual; it's not too late, you can turn up on the day if you can't decide (or e-mail me if you definitely want to compete).

On Sunday we hope to run a freestyle competition, time and weather permitting (providing there is sufficient interested). This will be roughly based on the Tricks-party format, though we may have to modify it a bit depending on who is available to judge.

This is a public venue, so we hope to be putting on demonstrations when not competing to make it a "mini-festival" (if you want to demo, just let me know). As usual we will also be putting together a mega-team each day. If time allows, we may also run some "have a go" sessions for the public.

I hope to see some of you there.

So, we've not had a lot of interest, but nevertheless it's all there waiting for you this morning...

How did it go, was there any wind? We dropped in yesterday afternoon but it was clearly a struggle to keep going - livened up a bit towards the end of the afternoon. What were the competition results?

Very low wind on Saturday, VERY low wind on Sunday. Photos and more detail will follow in the next few days, but congratulations to Tony Shiggins for becoming UK individual precision champion, to Phoenix for becoming UK pairs champions, to Flame for becoming UK team champions, and to Yan Spooner for becoming UK freestyle champion. As to Flying Fish, we were runners-up in the national pairs competition and won the Experienced class. Our very first competition, and we didn't score too badly, especially given the challenging wind.

Congratulations to the new 2014 Champions.

The STACK UK National Championship was held at Dunstable Downs on 31st May and 1st June. Two rounds of the IRB competition (figures and ballet) were held in light winds, and the results are:

2014 Dual Line Individual National Champion - Tony Shiggins
2014 Dual Line Pair National Champion - Phoenix
2014 Dual Line Team Champions - Flame

It was great to see new competitors in pairs, so congratulations to Flying Fish who are the new Experience Class Dual Line Pairs Champions for 2014.

A freestyle competition, loosely based on the Tricks Party format (with set tricks and ballet) was also run in very light to zero wind. Congratulations to the new 2014 Freestyle Champion, Yan Spooner for a great performance (and impressive running).

Thanks to all the competitors, judges and field director, and to the National Trust at Dunstable for having us.
