quad lines go ping!

Mon Feb 06, 2006 1:28 pm

I've bust a newish set of 100 feet 50 pound LaserPro quad lines :-(

They went about 15 feet from the sleeving/knots at the kite end.
First time I've pinged a quad set while flying. Not sure why they went - the wind was light, smooth and the lines didn't give me any feedback that suggested they were at their limit.

I usually use either Lp's or Shanti. Before I replace them has anyone had problems with Lp lines like this? Any other brand that you'd recommend and why?

cheers

As a rule I buy Shanti. You can't miss with them.

I use Climax 50 lb line for quad - I have one set of 30m long that I use for everything - rev 1 and 1.5 whatever the windspeed.

Don't know what wind speeds I have used them in, probably 20 mph + but I flew a vented 1.5 in enough to pull me around a bit at Cowbridge the other week. The lines were singing a bit .......

2 to 1 so far in favour of going for Climax (so to speak  )

Impressed by Tony using 50lb lines in a gale and with a Rev 1. There seem to be several variants on the Climax site - protec, professional, etc.
Which one would you go for?

GTR - Should I get a spare set so you can borrow them 5 minutes before Eurocup ballet comp :P

David, the purple ones seem to be of standard use, the red ones i use for comp lines, so order 2 lots of them, one for you and one for me  .
I have been using these lines now for about 4 years (no not the same ones :P ) of differing poundage and have never had one break YET!!, guess what is going to happen this coming Saturday  .
I know a few people that dislike them  , but i am confident at all times with them........Laser pro make that horrible noise when they are wrapped more than 4 times  , Climax don't, also they can be cleaned with their special solution. ......Climax all the the way :D :D , if you excuse the pun!!!

protec for 50 lb (the orange stuff)

I did buy set of purple (80 lb is the thinnest in that range) - haven't used them since getting the 50 lb'ers

I've broken tons of laser pro lines. They just plain suck most of the time :(
Anyway this cake is great.
It's so delicious and moist

Ive been useing the same spectra lines for about 3 maybe 4 years, never broken. Their 50lb and i use them in all winds.

Just to confuse maters.

I used the red line once and i didnt get on with it, it just didnt feel the same wiether thats to do with the stretch etc.

I would fly on LP given the chance but at the mo we have climax but that red stuff does like to stick to it's self (maybe only applies to Italy tho) :D :D
