Where do people get the bricks req'd to make such models ? I guess you
can buy parts in bulk from Lego but I've not see the link or service.

Pick-a-brick is the official online shop, and then there's the unoffical marketplace: BrickLink

And if you find a real bricks and mortar Lego shop (there used to be one in Birmingham, but it closed down - Milton Keynes and Legoland Windsor are the only 2 I know of in the UK) they normally have 'Pick a Brick' there.

...I forgot the other 'official' way of getting the parts you need - design your model in the Lego Digital Designer software (free from Lego) which will generate a partslist and enable you to upload your model to the Lego Factory shop, and then order it.

The first few seconds of this video show a load of Lego Factory boxes being unpacked, and you can see someone using the software at the right of the screen to look at the building instructions.

Only watch more than the first few seconds if you really like "Ca plane pour moi" by Plastic Bertrand...

That working V8 engine is just mind blowing. And he says it's not a kit....

Well impressed with that one.

All that matters in life is kite flying, love and work ….preferably in that order.

It's so annoying when you can't find enough bricks of the same colour...
