LIVING IN LONDON

Tue Jun 04, 2013 4:00 pm

I`am thinking about moving to London and im having few worries:

how expensive is to live in London,
Rent, Food etc.

i just got Job offer in Central London.

but before i decide i want to know few things.
here in Ireland i have stable but extremally borying job also Cork itself is very borying place, and there is no chance for any kind of progress at this momment, i feel just stuck there.

any thoughts, to help me decide???

Food is no more expensive than anywhere else in England - unless you mean eating out. But even then there are restaurants (good and bad) for every pocket.

Rent can be very expensive, but you're more likely to be on a higher salary if you're working in London to compensate for this. South of the river tends to be less expensive than north and despite its (undeserved) reputation Brixton is a great area and still affordable for how close to the centre of town it is. Other places to look at would include Balham or Tooting, both of which have good transport links (Nothern Line). Also New Cross and Lewisham are worth considering now that they have new transport links to the City and West End.

London is one of the world's greatest cities - go for it.

The downside is that there are few good flying sites for such a large city. South of the river it's just Blackheath and Purley Way, and both are quite a way out.

Cadogan Gardens is just off Sloane Square, Chelsea. If you're thinking of living there then they're paying you far too much!

Yes, it's fairly posh, and hotel staff are notoriously badly paid I believe.
