Does anyone else know of any other films that feature kites in them?

Isn't there a kite in Waterworld?

I'd suspect there's half a dozen of us doing a 'rolly eyes' thing, and a fair bit of whizzing overhead noises around.

Oh, ermmm on topic... I pretty much grew up with the Tolkien literature, Hobbit, LOTR, The Silmarilion, Tales Of Tom Bombadil, Book of Lost Tales. etc. etc. and am a big fan of the whole Mythos. This latest film is quite brilliant unless you're expecting a film telling the story of 'There and back again' as it's written in the one book. In which case, it's wildly innacurate and ever-so rambling. If you're expecting some directorial diversification, and some parrallel padding to fill 3 movies and make a cinematic spectacle, it'll really hit the spot. YMMV.

I'm looking forward to seeing it - I've read the book, listened to the old BBC radio dramatisation, and done the LOTR books & movies too. I'm hoping it will be good, but not going to get hung up on it being 100% accurate.

I've seen "Shooter" twice but it was only the last time I noticed that when 'Swagger' (Mark Wahlberg) is first seen in Washington, the background sky has several kites,at least one of which is a two-line A-frame stunter.

...and that's the closest I've got to a flying stunter since the middle of October.

You need to read more carefully then. It's in there.
