That's more like it :-)

Larger version hereif it gives you pleasure.

I've also played around with the bridle a little, basically widening it out using the supplied adjustments. It's even more to my liking now. I have to say that apart from the (occasional) wobbles coming out of tricks and when really hammering the kite I'm not noticing anything detrimental in it having 6mm LEs.

No, I haven't finished yet [-(

With time off for good behaviour I took the Sin out for a long fly today. I tried to push both myself and the kite to see where the limits were. I suspect mine were quite a bit lower than the kite. 8-[

A few things:
    > It does have one quite strong move - the Snap Lazy. In fact anything where the kite transitions into a Turtle then rotates (ie; Kombo) works very sweetly.
    > The 6mm LEs do have their limits but this only comes into play once you begin to nudge into the outer reaches. One wrap is OK, two not so much. Then again with the standard 14g. in the tail it's not a Yoyo monster. I don't think I got into a situation where it threatened to break but it got well out of shape a few times.
    > If you are sufficiently retro. to care about such things, it is a good Precision kite. It holds a line well and, especially once I worked on the bridle, cuts some neat angles and curves.
    > Big kite = firm pull. Not overpowering but in no way light.
    > You do need to play with the leech line to avoid a really annoying noise. Unless you like that sort of thing.

All in all the Sin hasn't saved the world or rewritten any rulebooks. It's a nice kite in all respects, fine value for money. I'll be flying this one for a while yet and probably slipping some more upmarket framery into it too.

That is a cool shot Mike ... chapeau !

Regarding those leading edges .... I don't have a issue with them on the SIN,
but they are a bit wimpy on the Cosmic VTD when the wind picks up - the
wingtips chatter pretty bad then.

Mike - you really ought to melt the ends of your sleeving before making up your lines .......

How deep does the Sin fall into a turtle - there looks to be a lot of sail below the lower spreader compared to a lot of current kites .

Deep enough for effortless multi-lazies - but not deep enough easy cyniques,
at least I've not managed any yet.

The joy of pre-sleeved lines :-( They are actually my rarely used 220# 20m lines. I'll tidy them up later 8-[

It's actually quite adjustable, depends on how deep you want them to be (like I said originally... the Sin doesn't seem to dictate flying style/moves as much as some other kites I've been flying recently). Multilazies are certainly there, delayed Multis look nice too.

Look... if you really want to find out, go buy one from those nice FA people. :D

When buying through FA, can I choose custom colours?
Is there a SUL/UL variant planned?

These are the UL specs (from the designer Sascha)

"The UL is designed for the lower windrange. I would say from 0.5 - 3 BFT.
It is my favourite version. The kite has enough weight for all tricks (backspinn cascades; crazy copter ; yoyos ; yopfades etc..)

But it is light enough for flying in low winds.

The rods are
lower spreader P100
upper spreader 5mm stuctil
leading edges top P90
leading edges bottom P200 (this combinatin is the special about the UL, cause the weight is in the tips)
and g-force UL in the "center" (donĀ“t know the correct english name) "

I have a bit more a play with the setup of the kite.

1) added 10g. more weight to the standard 14g. - it's easy to adjust as there is a pocket at the tail you just slip some flat weights into. They can fall out so make sure the tail piece is snugly attached. However.... I hated it. It turned a well-rounded kite into an oversteering piece of nastiness. Tried it, removed it, won't be doing it again. YMMV

2) when the winds kicked up towards 20mph and above the kite was getting a bit too swift to be much fun. No danger of it falling apart, little frame distortion but not a great deal of giggles and beginning to get even more firm on the lines. So I slipped on some Kitestudio Wah Pads, placing them inside of the inner standoffs. This worked fabulously. Slowed it all down and re-opened the door to some trickery.

All in all, this kite has a huge usable wind range.

Interestingly Kitehouseis now offering the Sin in Comp (ie; Aerostuffed) and UL versions. I am very tempted to convert this kite to one state with a reframe and get another kite in the other.

Broke mine out yesterday too. Found a place to fly close to the office:

Image

It'd be great spot if not for the five enormous radio masts.

The SIN gets a bit quick for me at 15mph but it does have a surprisingly
good low end - from 3mph.

I was starting to get my Taz's going with this kite yesterday. Its still
very hit and miss ... but when I hit em - they are lovely and flat.

And the trees on three sides

This is how my session today began:

And this is how it ended:

(vid. caps BTW)

I'm glad I wasn't on longer than 30m lines.

Indeed, but I dare you find a better location in my town.

Its really not so bad - its up on a hit - the trees aren't so tall or so thick.

It really does suck to be a kite flier in Cary (Raleigh), NC.

You could always go kick some undeserving immigrant kids off the "Soccer Pitch." ;)

(map keeps springing back somewhere else for some reason, might be the Firefox beta.)
