Nice review, Adrian.

Leaves that tantalising question though - will I like it or won't I?

I'm really looking forward to this one ... the original Mohawk was very innovative IMHO.

Great review

I have a Mohawk V1. which we used a couple of years ago on the beach in Stella, it was blowing 30+ and hardly pulled at all!

Yan was kind enoughto let me have a flick about with his one yesterday... 1st 20 minute session 12 - 15 MPH winds and it was all quick and nasty - loads of gaps as well, though the lazy stuff and axels / cascades and cometes were nice. Later on then, probably 7 - 10 MPH and it was a much nicer fly, spin stuff still a bit questionable, but everything else really quite nice. Usual small tricky kite wind range issues I guess. 's OK though.

My Mohawk XS arrived today.

I've not flown it ... but I can tell you this much - this is best presented kite I've ever bought, and I've bought more than a few

The quality is right up there with Benson, JoE and Blue Moon Kites, but the packaging is just that little bit extra, the pin striping, shipped sealed in plastic, little tags here and there etc. This type stuff might not matter much to you, but you couldn't help but be impressed by the attention to detail.

The construction does appear to borrow much from the DS - from the rollbars, to he leading edge tips and fastening, etc. Which goes to show just what an impressive kite the DS was (and indeed is) - a kite ahead of its time (especially over here Sarah Palin land).

I might take some detail shots to show you all what I mean. Truly a tour de force.

Having flown Yan's MXS briefly, I have to agree the construction is top notch.

Looking forward to your flight report, Frazer.
