It almost feels the same, I have not yet noticed a difference in durability. But Ventex weighs 34 gramms/sq meter which is 3 gramms more than Icarex.

It's good enough for Prism and HQ, so I guess it must me OK.

I read somewhere that the nominal 31 gsm for Icarex was the weight of the fabric before the coating is applied, although I'm not sure that 3 grammes/square metre is going to make a great deal of difference. More importantly - is it cheaper, how easy is it to get hold of and when will the FA shop start stocking it?

Sorry Stuart, but that's not going to happen.

Seems to me that the first quote probably answers the second :-)

Ventex is closer in feel and durability to the old Icarex, P31 but not prone to the same heavy creasing.
Ventex=.5oz, P31=.5oz, PC31=.65oz

Nice if you can get it at the right price but personally, unless I was building an SUL I'd choose PC31 every time: Stronger colours, better tear resisitance, more solid feel in normal flight.

ISTR The Highwaymen used to sell Ventex a while ago, dont know if they still have any.
