Following this thread, and this similar one on GWTW:
http://gwtw-kites.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=12930
I emailed R-Sky expressing my concern that so many (4) Nirvanas seemed to be failing in the same way.

Roger T-G replied to me saying that modern sports kites take a lot of beating and that such failure could be down to wear to the thread from dead launching or tricks like the Comete (??)... He said that for 'safety' (babelfish) they have changed threads now, but that out of all the hundreds of Nirvanas sold worldwide he has not been told of any other failures.

I'm considering a riposte, but mindfull of the fact that unless you email in French you get ignored, or worse, insulted, it makes it very hard.

Do we have any fluent French speakers on the forum willing to help me out with a bit of a reply?

Maybe you should email him back and say that as you can't deadlaunch or comete he obviously just makes crappy kites, that fall apart as soon as the wind blows.

tbh. is it worth the agro, it doesn't sound like he's real interested does it.

I'll make a slight amendment to it, and then I'll stand by the statement:

I won't buy any more new, or full priced R-Sky stuff... Bargains and second hand gear is fair game.

Speakin of the Nirvana..

The sail seems quite loose - I've got the rubber-band sail tensioners on as per the Psycho - But the sail still sags a wee bit at the spreader fitting cut-outs.

Is this the same as anyone elses?

Nope, I hadn't fallen off the map. Although one would be excused for thinking so...

Davey, its no gemini in the taughtness stakes thats for sure, but its not that loose either. You should have two rubber band tensioners over the nook, at least mine has.

Can't believe that I have only just spotted this thread.
My older Nirvana has had the exact same failure. In my case it was spotted at 11pm, the night before departing for France and the European Cup. A hurried repair with a knackered sewing machine and clear gaffer tape fixed it at the time.

When this happens I take the damaged sail (not the kite) to Carl Robertshaw. The quality of the repair is better than the original stitching.

Seems to be a french thing. I did not experience sail failures until I started flying Lithiums, where the noses have had to be replaced.

Funnily enough I was talking to da man (CR) earlier today, and this subject came up. I thought it was just my kite.

:D
