So we've extended the definition of "classic" to "8 year old brick" have we ? :?

A really unhelpful reply in my opinion. We need to encourage infrequent posters and newcomers to come forward more and not make them feel uncomfortable about making posts.

You've not flown one then Bill?

You disappoint me. You've missed my point entirely.

You think?

Is Involo so thin skinned he can't take some gentle ribbing, on what is widely recognised as being a poor kite.

This has never been a rainbow and unicorn forum, but one with a sense of fun, I think you missed the point.

Yes, but surely there's still a need to attract new people to the Forum who may not understand and appreciate the differences between 'Forums', 'Cliques' and 'Fivers'

I had my first 'Ballerina' test kite flying at the May 1993 Great Yarmouth Kite Festival.

Was there such a thing at Yarmouth?

We muttered the idea of a festival in Norfolk earlier in the year but
dimissed it because most flyers live across the ortherside of the country.
All that matters in life is kite flying, love and work ….preferably in that order.

In the bag; Shhhhh... far too many to mention, don't tell the Missus!

the prisms are great but I have to agree... the Y2K was a disaster...
and I love prism kites... but Imho they lost it in 99 somewhere...
the Illusion (first and second series) was, for me, the last great prism made...

Well folks, but this thread was made to show some old/classic kites and not to discuss about how they fly, so I showed my I2K because IMHO it's a classic. I knew that a lot of people don't like it and also at Prism had noticed of flying issues of the first batches, indeed they made an update set including new bridle and standoffs to fix the troubles. My I2K features these updates so I'll see if they will work. I have just put together this kite buying a brand new sail on GWTW forum and all the spars and fittings needed, but I haven't flown it yet. However my aim was to put together a nice collection of old/discontinued Prism doesn't matter if one has some flying issues, and the I2k is part of Prism's history, so I couldn't miss it.

Yes, it certainly took place at Great Yarmouth on the beach, near to where there was a shelter on the 'promenade' (I think I can still see it looking on Google Earth) We stayed overnight during the weekend at the YHA place in the town. There were quite a few kite trader stalls set up and I also remember an area with 'used' kites for sale. I believe it took place at a weekend near to the end of May, maybe the Bank Holiday weekend. It was where I first met the 'Beccles Bunch'. They had a team set of 'Ballerinas' as they flew two-line as well as there impressive single-line kites at that time. It will be in my old diary for that year which i can check when I find it. The following two years (1994 and 1995) the Festival moved inland. I don't remember what the location was called, but it was a large site with a zoo close-by.
