Well the '98 Illusion got custom reinforced LLE spars (an extra wrap at the LE connector) to try to stop the wingtips simply snapping clean off so....

Indeed, snapped completely at the APA.

Not exactly Mike.

The Big Brother vented shown on your second picture is a Big Brother I vented.

The Big Brother II vented looks like this :

And the Big Brother I standard :

Sticks head above parapet and says "Hi"

Found this forum by accident - I'll add pictures of my Kites once I've taken some - most pictures of them are on film prints as they pre-date digital equipment

Early 50's been kite flying for maybe 30 years - took it up as a cheaper wind in your hair alternative to sailing as that got too expensive when you saddle yourself with a mortgage and other life essentials as well as living in the middle of East Anglia.

It's funny that this thread says "old" kites cos that's all I have - I haven't bought a new one for maybe 10 years

Kite collection/History (I still have them all)

Highflyers – Generation (first kite for many years after a Peter Powell fell to bits) and Club sport (2 so flown stacked)
Powerhouse – Adrenaline
Flexifoil - Phsyco
Air Dynamics- Dharma SP Ultralight (orange)
HQ - Baby Tana & Obsession
Benson - Box of tricks
Spirit of Air – Kaos ("signed as last one" - now they've restarted making it seems so I should fly it more)
Kited - Neutrino
Revolution EXP

Plus a couple of flexifoil "flying duvets" and a soft foil as well as a few other odds and sods

I'm quite precious with some of them (Dharma, Box of tricks, Kaos, Baby Tana, Neutrino & Rev 1.5) they are all perfect or very close to it.

The others depending on age have seen a lot of action and are probably classified as "well used"

The "Psycho" is battered beyond belief as it's been folded up into hand luggage and flown wherever I've been on holiday (USA & Europe) but I love the fact that the harder the wind blows the more frantic and fun the kite gets.

Won't be too long with pics hopefully....

Highflyers – Generation (it appears I have two) nice little durable trainer kite for nieces and nephews who are now all grown up

Image

Image

Club Sport (Staked one - Oldest and faded)

Image

And the less faded front one

Image

Adrenaline (seems I've robbed the spars at some stage)

Image

And then we get into the ones that I fly the most

Psycho - filthy dirty and battered purchased in Jan 96 so now 20 years old

Image

BOT

Image

Obsession (without that bloody keel bow)

Image

Kaos

Image

As previously stated it got signed as the last one so I didn't fly it as much as I should but it seems they are making it again so it's going to get used a lot now

Image

Air Dynamics- Dharma SP Ultralight (orange)

Image

HQ - Baby Tana

Image

Kited - Neutrino

Image

One purchased in the USA because it was cheap and there was a shortage of breeze

Image

Duvet

Image

Soft foil (New Tech)

Image

Freebie (Silk Cut)
