About time

Wed Apr 10, 2013 4:01 am

I dug out my Fury .85 Blue and Gold the other day and headed off to the beach. Pulled out the Aerostuff Blue, broken lower leading edge and not enough wind to fly the Gold
So back to the beach the following day and not very nice wind, gusty lowish wind, but enough to fly the Gold .85. This is the first time I have flown a kite for 5 ½ years, it’s just like riding a bike, but it felt like a very rusty bike !
30min warm up then a quick fly on short lines a rest and then a fly on longer lines 85 ‘.
I was surprized how quick it all came back, but it will take some time to get back my old form !
Here is a short Video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtgF3o8IHMA

Thanks for the kind words everyone. And a BIG “ Hi “ to Bryan :D

To Frazer, I watched a Superfly video the other day and yes I think I might want one now. I will have to add it to the list !

Glad to see you back Steve. :) I was beginning to wonder if you'd returned to the UK or not.

PS: Been trying to get in touch with you - need to return the SL7 on loan.

Hi Adrian
No I’m still here, just busy doing other stuff.
I will have to get my backside down to the city and have a fly with you again. I have spent too much time in the country kayaking. Is your phone number the same ?

Nice flying; the flying spot looks pretty pleasing too. I was out with my fury85 only a few days ago - forgot that I liked it. Your videos from way back made me go out and get a fury in the first place - nice to see your tricks again.

Admittedly, I'm flying the fury85 at the moment because I've got a SuperFly on order and wanted to see if I could get any "Goff-groove" going before it arrives. (sadly, no not really!) First new kite for four years it'll be though... excited.

Is there anyone who has flown and .85 and a Superfly ?
Are there many similarities between them ?
I would LIKE a Superfly, but not sure I NEED one as I have 1 skyshark, 1AS Gold and 1 AS blue .85's mint unflown in a bag somewhere !

I have a skyshark-framed .85 (two of them, to be honest) and a Chris Goff SuperFly. Two completely different animals, from my experience. Similarity in that they both have a sail, a spine, leading edges, upper and lower spreaders, and single stand-offs. Their behaviour on the lines is totally different (for me, that is). SuperFly does tricks before I can do them, whereas the .85 requires input which is different from what I'm used to in my other kites. Of course, that may well say something about my (in)abilities as a flyer  SuperFly also goes lower wind-wise.

Oh, of course you do, and you know you want to .... go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on! With apologies to those not familiar with Mrs Doyle and Father Ted
