UL Recommendations please

Tue Aug 18, 2009 9:51 am

Hi, long time no post for me.

I got out of kiting for a while, just too busy doing "other stuff" if you know what I mean.

Anyway I have been able to have some free time lately.
When the wind's playing my homemade Psycho (I've worn 3 out in the years) or Area 51 comes out (I got a mint one from a friend)
When there's not so much wind, the Gem comes out

When there's next to nothing the Matrix or if it dies I play with the boomerang for a bit. (Anyway of tricking up a Matrix?)

Now I have contemplated making the "Le Quartz" as a UL but my sewing machine has gone on the 3 step zig zag.

Sooooo, what UL would you guys & girls advise me to look at?
I've been thinking Gem UL or a Deep Space?

TIA

You should always try before you buy if you can...

...saying that, the DS does go quite low, but maybe you should wait for the DS UL which is in development at the moment

Tim told me he is taking orders now.
Though I would recommend a Talon UL personally.

If it's in good nick and in one of the less "tropical" colour schemes I might have it :D mine's been flown to death

Is this kite suitable for very low winds?

It's a Super Ultra Light designed for indoor or very low wind conditions. Although you'll have to work pretty hard to fly it indoors.

Well, I bought UkTotty's STX
Briefly flew it but the wind/weather in Devon/Cornwall weren't suitable for a SUL!

Ooooooooooooo yis.
1/ snapped my old lines
2/ Broke both leaders on the bridle within micro seconds (old bridle from old kite)
3/ Broke the lower spreader on the Psycho mid air (old ones from old kite)

I'll now await Seales to say point 3 was to do with ground incidents
That kid can fly. Cheeky fella said "Now that's Old Skool" about my Leading Edge Drag with his Gem ;)
