540's and Slot machines on an Akuji

Sun Sep 21, 2008 9:11 pm

Any 'Akuji Masters' out there who can give me some advice? In my hands, the Akuji doesn't seem to like to flat spin and its very easy (hard not to! to 'pull it out' of the flat position.

I can do both tricks on various other kites. I had my first go on a cosmic on saturday and did both tricks at the first attempt so, (bad workman blaming tools!) it has to be something to do with the Akuji's design.

Any advice?

It does both slots and 540's very easily, if you can do them on other kites you should be able to do them on the Akuji, more practice needed!

What & where does it go wrong?

Slot machines should be a bit easier IMHO than 540...

Could be you are to "heavy handed", the spin input is rather short and not a hard one.

The only problem I had on the Akuji's was catching a line on those long wingtips.

So I have to adjust my timing a little, thats all.

I have problems with slots on the Akuji, not so much 540's...I seem to catch wing tips all the time but then I normally fly a 2m kite so it's probably slack issue for me.

Finally got to fly my Akuji for the first time after my original post today. Still having problems.

I'm guessing its a setup thing but it just doesn't seem to want to rotate for me. My best efforts give me a very slow rotation and lose a lot of height.

In contrast, in my hands my Hellfire does perfect slots...

Hopefully I can crack this at Bath next week.javascript:emoticon(':)')
