half-lazy???

Wed Oct 06, 2004 7:10 pm

I was flying today and have been concentrating on a new (?) trick.
you fly it just the way you would fly a halfaxel, but then instead of puling the upper wing and then tugging the lower you start with the lower and finish with the upper.
This way the kite will fly (say left to right) drop on it's back , jump up again and fly away to the left without losing altitude.

is this a new trick or has someone named it allready?

otherwise half-lazy wouldn't be a bad name.....

Not sure what it is called but I seem to recalle that different kites respond in different ways to this input.

Snap turtle into a lazy susan... Have seen it a number of times. Matthew Mayets Amsterdam trick clinic has it - as does one of Sven's Nirvana vids (can't remember which one though)

Nope, I hadn't fallen off the map. Although one would be excused for thinking so...

Definitely a snap turtle, but I think a lazy (or crazy) susan requires a second pop with the same hand for a complete rotation. Pim is describing using the inside hand to rotate the kite back into normal flight facing in the opposite direction, like an upside-down half axel.

I think we need a video of this one

after having flying this trick for a couple of day's it looks like the second half of a comet, but the kite goes deeper on it's back.
I couldn't manage to cascade it which I hoped for.

If the weather stay's well, there will be a vid taped thursday.

I did try this today, but somehow ended up doing crazy susans instead.....must remember to pop with the other hand.

Never managed a crazy susan before though, so was quite pleased with that :D

Possibly....fly down and to the side of the window, snap into turtle with the outside hand and pop again with the same hand to get a lazy susan in one continuous movement. It's a way of getting a lazy susan out of a kite that won't sit in a turtle, like the Box of Tricks.

so what you're actually doing is a combo landing without the landing :D
for the "half-lazy" you have to fly horizontally.

Sounds like it might be a shove-it. It's like a half lazy susan, but the kite passes under the lines, so that it ends up in a fade position rather than a tailbone.

The second part of the comet is very much like a shove-it.

well.... the kite doesn't end up in a fade, but pointing in the direction it came from , just like a halfaxel.
there will be a vid tomorrow evening if the weather holds ...
