same trick, different speeds

Thu Apr 24, 2014 8:17 am

I am looking for a range of tricks or modern manoeuvres to put into a dual line team routine. What I hope the collective brain can help me with is a suggestion on what tricks can be flown in a wide wind range. I need to fly them to the music so I would need to be able to control the speed say of rotation.

For example an axle cascade can be slowed right down or be flown like a maniac.

So, suggestions on a postcard please. The best answers will receive no prize whatsoever but will be blamed when the routine crashes and burns around my ears.

Simple half axels are variable speed too. We have a routine that exploits that.

Needs to fly more, now that I can.

if that is the case then all you need is a good half axel and a stall !

I don't remember seeing much more in a team routine.

This wasn't a criticism. Just a reflection on tricks in stack competition that work from 3mph to 28 ...

Whilst it would be nice if the moves could be synchronised across the whole team it is not the only option. I am happy to have one kite do one thing and the other something else. The important point for me is that it can be flown in a range of winds and at speeds that match the music, not dictate the speed of the music.

Not competing does give us a little extra leeway as we can always revert to other options if the wind is really strong.

Thanks for the feedback so far. Keep the ideas coming.

Don't know about others but there is always an alternative in our pairs/team routines, usually substituting stall for half axel in no/high winds.

You could try rolling susans, it should be possible to make the rotation rate variable to match the music, after all Bunnies did it back in Dieppe, down to a landing if I recall correctly.

Ermmm... Pretty much any trick at all can be done at different speeds to fit music, just a bit more control of inputs required is all. There's some slammin' TP routines out there in the video archives, though not so many good team displays in truth. Plenty of Indi and pair though.

See if you can find some Nuff and Nunder routines or the winning Indi routine from Thorsten Axmann in 2010 at Stella.

Thanks Bryan, I am a bit out of touch with the sharp end of the discipline. Will take a look at the videos.

I saw Richard at Berck last week. It was seriously impressive but it all happened so fast I could not keep up!

I tried the new R-Sky NTE it's a great kite and very sympathetic to fly. I managed a Taz for the first time so effortlessly it makes me enter why I couldn't do it before. Should be a very capable like for what I want.
