Trick milestone: successful Axels on both sides!!!

Fri Mar 01, 2013 7:36 am

I had almost given up flying today as the wind turned the other way but on the walk home the nearby field had better wind

After a few wobbles I decided to give the Axel a go- once I did it on the left I understood a bit better and was able to then hit the right side with another perfect axel

Everyone here is shouted to a virtual pint

2 for Kevin since he sent me the kite

Still buzzin :D

Well done!
Brilliant feeling, right?

Now you can start trying to chain a few to get multi-axels

But for now, I'll drink to that! (with alcohol-free beer due to heart issues)
Cheers! =D>

Feels great when a trick 'clicks', doesn't it? After I could axel on the left, it took me ages to do it on the right, but when I finally pulled that off  Now I don't understand why it took so long

It took me ages to work out the Taz, I'm still really hit and miss...

It looks as though tho' wap-do-wap is taking over as the 'must do' trick now which is all good

It is if you can do them, Yan ;)

I struggled for four months to get the axel. Great feeling when you get there.

I can remember learning the axel ... it was driving me mad ... the concept of slack right after a pull/pop dawned on me.

The kite which gave me that trick was the Level One Easy Lite - wish I still had it - lots of fun and a flat spin monster.

My axels when pulling with my left hand still often get a tip-wrap
When pulling with my right I not only get them 100% right but I can even chain 4 or 5 and I have the feeling well internalized of when to pull to make the chain smooth.
With my left, it's as if my left hand was completely stupid and did not know what to do or when to do it... :(
Only seldom do I get a good nice and flat axel with my left. But it is not the general case... yet...

As people say: practise, practise and practise...

I'm left-handed, but I know the feeling all too well!
