The Pancake is a move that Ihave
only found to have value on its own as an ariel trick in low
wind. It is however one move that is fundamental to many freestyle
tricks and combinations.
The kite is flown from the top
of the window down towards the ground. Pull BOTH arms back
behind you, if done too quickly this will make your kite accelerate.
Simultaneously throw both arms forward and step forward at
the same time, the kite will flatten out, belly towards the
ground, to maintain this stall, move forward. To come out
of the pancake simply pull on a line and fly away. One of
my favorite uses for the pancake is a trick called the Belly
landing, fly straight down the centre of the window towards
the ground, at the last moment excecute a pancake so that
instead of drilling your kite nose first into the ground it
comes to rest belly down, nose away in a pancake position,
This looks really cool when done well, but does require split
second timing , a real spar buster !
