The Fade is THE trick that got
me into flying trick kites, whilst watching a guy fly a Dot
Matrix at the Portsmouth festival a few years back i saw him
put the kite into a Fade, i was amazed. The fade gets the
kite into a belly up, nose towards you position. In a steady
wind with some kites a fade can be held for literally hours.
There are two main ways to achieve a fade....
Pancake to fade. Fly the kite
from the top of the window nose down towards the ground, kill
the kite as per an ordinary Pancake try to ensure that the
kite levels out nice and square to you, as the kite flattens
out pop or tug both lines evenly and at the same time and
then give some slack, different kites require different inputs
from the pilot some requiring only a gentle knock whilst others
seem to prefer a good solid yank, this double pop will cause
the nose of the kite to swing under and face you putting the
kite into a Fade.
