The Anatomy Of Your Kite

Although the details may vary from kite to kite, most dual line kites, with few notable exceptions bear the same anatomy as this diagram. Some may have fewer or more standoffs, or two spines, or a divergent tail, but consulting this diagram will enable you to talk about the parts of your kite with confidence.

In general the Upper Leading Edge (ULE) and Lower Leading Edge (LLE) are joined with a metalic ferrule - a thin tube, often affixed to the ULE that the LLE will slot into. The leading edge spar is usually contained within a sleeve sewn into the leading edg of the sail. This sleeve has cutouts to allow the Upper and Lower Spreaders to attach to the leading edge spar with rubber connectors.
